Friday Beer Post: Gameday Beer-o-the-week

Each week throughout the football season I'm going to suggest a good beer for the ubiquitous pre-game tailgate. Let's be honest, with tailgates it's not always quality that you're looking for. To steal a phrase from the heinous beer terrorists at Budweiser, you want "drinkability." (or what a real beer connoisseur calls "a session beer") So, be warned, these may not be "the best" beers around. But, in the words of Dave Chappelle as Samuel L. Jackson "IT'LL GET YOU DRUNK!"

For the first week, since it's against CSU, there is only one choice: Buff Gold.

It's got Buffalo in the name for Christ sake! And look at that label: THE FLATIRONS! Yep, that's a gameday beer if I've ever seen one. But it's got other qualities too, like having far more flavor than typical Colorado tailgate staples like Coors Light and Coors "Regular Style." While not as heavy (or flavorful) as some of the specialty beers that I love to consume, Buff Gold will at least let you know that there's more than water in the bottle. Also: IT'S NAMED BUFF GOLD!

If I might make a suggestion: combine with a drop-shot of Buffalo Trace bourbon for what I call a "Buffalo-maker." It'll put hair on your chest.

Go Buffs, and remember "If you can't get into college, go to State!"
