Baylor Wrap - That could've, should've been a great road victory for the Buffs. Up 14 points at the half in their final trip to Waco, CU had put themselves in great position to re-fire the engines and keep their "real" Tourney hopes alive (albeit still on life support). At one point CU even owned a 17-point 1st half lead; then came the second half. In the final 20 minutes of play they allowed the Baylor Bears to shoot a scorching 60% from the field (3-4 from behind the arc), and outscore CU by 18 points.

It happened right away, too. Storming out of the locker room, the Bears went on a massive 10-0 run (including final bucket before the half) that turned momentum permanently. It was then a question of weather or not CU could hang on; they couldn't. Sure, Cory had a shot for the game, but CU never should've let Baylor back into it. Following the massive letdown, I liked Levi's quote the best: "They switched up defenses on us a little bit, but that shouldn't bother us. We battled, but we just couldn't get stops in the second half."(link) Some cold truth from a senior. Now CU is staring up at a sub-.500 conference record, and even the NIT is starting to come into question.

I think we can safely say at this point that, even considering the difficulty of winning on the road in the Big XII, that CU just isn't ready for prime time. K-State was, and for the most part still is, a disaster, and that win inordinately spiked hopes for a team that will eventually finish with the 7-9 conference wins that most people (myself included) pegged them for when conference play started. The team is still very exciting to watch, and Al Burks and Cory Higgins will still play professional basketball in the near future, but this program is just not there yet. That doesn't mean that these Buffs won't get a win against either UT or A&M at home, but hyperventilating over not getting into the top-25 was premature. NIT here we come.
Andre Roberson - One the brighter side of things, 'Dre had an insane 10 offensive rebounds on Saturday. Sure, I would've liked to have seen him with more than one defensive board, but 10 offensive boards means 10 second chances. Unfortunately, CU just couldn't take enough of an advantage. Playing in front of friends and family (he's from San Antonio) sure lit a fire under the young Roberson, and he now stands only 59 rebounds away from the all-time CU freshman rebound record. Since he averages over 7 a game, this is a statistical probability. Keep it up, Dre.

Pro Bowl - If you watched this, then I suggest you seek professional help. This disaster of an event is a mockery of the game of football, and should never be played. There's no hitting, no blitzing, most of the smart players find a way to skip the thing, and no variable defenses (it's illegal to run a 3-4, for instance). ESPN didn't even have the damn thing on it's headlines for most of yesterday! It's a worthless pile of garbage put on in the desperate hope that people are so addicted to football that advertisers can squeeze another round of cash out of them. Watching the Pro Bowl is a sure sign of a dependency issue, and I can only say that you may want to investigate this thing called a "life" where-in you find things to do outside of the sporting world. Myself, I cleaned up around the house, ran some errands, and caught up on my NetFlix; boring, yet fruitful. Hell watching paint dry would've been more rewarding than watching athletes on vacation. To repeat: NEVER, EVER, WATCH THE PRO BOWL!
